Hello, folks!

I'd like to introduce :iconblacksheep787: to you.

She just recently joined the DA-community and needs a little love and encouragement regarding her creative work, which consists of somber urbex-photography and (mainly portrait-)pencil drawings.

Here are some excerpts from her portfolio:

I see a good deal of potential there and invite everyone who is into these things to have a look, give some feedback and tipps or maybe just send some nice words. I bet it will be appreciated and I hope she will feel as welcome here as I felt, when I first joined.  :highfive:

Have a good one, people.

My Dear Watchers,

is anybody still out there? I hope you are all well and healthy and creative and full of ideas as ever.
I'm really ashamed for the long absence :ashamed: and I blame a mixture of life happening and making questionable experiences here which were kind of hard to swallow...but I also missed a lot of people and their valuable input, so...here I am and hope, I'm still welcome.

for my German watchers I also have a very interesting book suggestion - I picked it up last week and it mirrors exactly what I feel about the contemporary art scene and the bulk of its inhabitants - creators as well as consumers:

"Kunst Hassen - Eine Enttäuschte Liebe" ("Hating Arts - A Love Disappointed") by Nicole Zepter
(I'm not aware of an English edition existing, sorry...)

it's cynical, it's sad and bitter and disillusioning and true and I loved it and read it in one go.
everybody who is planning to become a professional artist, i.e. plans to earn money with his/her artworks should have at least a passing look; it's rather insightful, although admittedly not entirely impartial.

nevertheless, I'm working and creating as usual and I will update my portfolio here over the next few days, weeks and hopefully months.
one of my current works is already uploaded and some assorted drafts you will find below. I'm trying for the more classic portraiture and architecture right now, as it is there I need to improve upon to achieve what I want to achieve in the end

I am also going through my inbox right now and reply to your kind comments and stimuli...from the past year... :ashamed:

glad to be back.  :bounce:

sorry for my lack of update lately. busy life...plus, the current drawing just had me captured so much I even cut work hours in the finishing phase...I hope you enjoy my recent work.

meanwhile a lot of watchers have piled up while I didn't look. how's that even possible?! I'm very grateful for every single one of you, who are interested in my work and I'm looking forward to browsing your galleries and see how creative you are.  :D

please keep in mind: I enjoy any sort of feedback, and even if it takes some time right now, I'm going to reply to every single one of your comments, greetings and ideas! thank you so much for everything.  :happybounce:

1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?

First enrolled in 2008, but due to time- and self-confidence-issues bolted 3 years ago. Now I'm back for 5 weeks and I'm pretty happy so far.

2. What does your username mean?

I believe that you can only consider soemthing beautiful when there is something ugly about it that contrasts with it. that's why I chose this name - to me it creates the impression of something that's pleasant to look at but deep down at the core is noxious and virulent.

Also, the name was inspired by:

3. Describe yourself in 3 words!

Needs. More. Practice.

4. Are left handed or right?

Right. Though I'm pretty good with both hands when it comes to video gaming.

5. What was your first deviation?

A couple of arms in a vase...'nuff said...

this time:

The bOx I by Uranium-Sea

6. What is your favourite type of art to create?

Traditional. Usually a weird mixture of surrealism and...nothing very profound.

7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?

I'd love to pick up singing lessons again...

8. What was your first favourite?

An abstract piece about how human conscious is becoming obsolete by a wonderful French artist who, sadly, is not part of the DA-community anymore.

the first one when I re-joined was:

Descent by tsukiko-kiyomidzu

9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?

The well-crafted kind that impacts me and gives me food for thoughts.
And sexy stuff every now and then. :ashamed:

10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?

"MinitaTurquoise" and Peggy... are you still out there?

11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?

well, there are

DamaiMikaz :icondamaimikaz: , a DA-mainstay who offers tons of insight and sound advice to the whole community,

drawuntilithurts :icondrawuntilithurts: , who makes me question my way of working without compromising my own style and

Joshuagoymer :iconjoshuagoymer: , whose art simply fascinates me on a certain level, because it is as creative and significant as it is "simple"

12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?

They all do, in a way. Every deviation I see contributes to my day, my emotions and thoughts.

13. What are your preferred tools to create art?

Any dry media...all sorts of pencils, charcoal and crayon. furthermore ink and occasionally watercolor. I like to experiment with food every once in a while as well.

14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?

Living room coffee table...that's where I am surrounded by green plants, record players, shelves full of books, records and cds and that's where my dog usually hangs out...

15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?

When I first joined, someone out of the blue gave me a one-year-premium-membership (or should I say "core-membership"? that sounds less elitist...  Sceptical  ) on my second day. I don't know why and what for and he / she never answered my multitude of "thank you's" and "I love you's" so...maybe that was the DA-version of a tax-evasion but I for once really felt acknowledged and appreciated and that I will never forget and I still like to think of the DA community as people like this: generous, open-minded and...well...a community   :)

Concluding this I want to say "Happy Birthday" to DeviantArt and the DA-community.
Thank you to all who might read this, thank you to my recent watchers and everyone who supported me in one way or another.

Cheers.

Back at last...

1 min read
...and a little less enthusiastic than the last time I joined, but...who knows, what surprises lay in store.

I'm still learning and the multitude of genius artists on here still make me feel like I'm bungling everything I start, just like it was when I left years ago. But that's an all the better reason to keep working.

Anyway, I enjoy illustrating any form of written text, be it poems, songs, novellas, short stories or anything along those lines.
Any good suggestions? I like a new challenge every once in a while.
Feel free to contact me, if you have anything for me to work on, book or music recommendations or written something you'd like to see in graphic form.

Cheers
